KFC Is Becoming a Success Again, No Thanks to the Chicken
When you think of fast food, McDonald’s is probably the first name to pop into your head. If you look past the burgers and fries, KFC becomes one of the most recognizable names in the American fast food industry. After all, the state of Kentucky is in the name.
While the chain has established itself as an important part of American culture, its success has been shaky for quite some time. Over the past decade-and-a-half sales have dipped and the number of locations in the US have been reduced. Still, Yum! Brands (the company who operates KFC) has seen a lot of growth over this time period. Much of this success can be attributed to the international audience, but KFC has been working to improve its performance in its native US.
For a period of time, KFC lost its direction. While your local restaurant may have closed, the company is in a period of strategic growth. Now, the brand is ready to win back its audience. They’re going to capitalize on the fried chicken frenzy and give customers what they want. So far, their attempts have been successful, but there’s plenty of competition trying to slow the progress.
