Adele’s 30 Era is Finally Here. Will She Continue to Smash Sales Records?
On Oct. 15, 2021, Adele finally made her return to mainstream music. Her song Easy On Me debuted along with its accompanying music video. It has been six years since the release of Adele’s previous album 25, and her follow-up 30 will be released on Nov. 19, 2021.
The return definitely feels overdue. In fact, Adele confirmed that the release was delayed due to the pandemic. Perhaps this is why she hosted Saturday Night Live in Oct. 2020. She likely booked the gig hoping to promote an upcoming album, but the music wasn’t ready.
Regardless of her reasons, the music industry is preparing for Adele to make waves. When she released her album 25 in 2015, she was able to shatter sales records. The odds were stacked against her, because streaming was already on the rise and albums sales were plummeting. Adele proved she was different, and she could exceed expectations despite the obstacles in front of her.
Now that 30 is on its way, we’re left to wonder if Adele will break more records. Her past two releases have been anomalies when it comes to sales. After a significant amount of time away from the music industry, it’s hard to know if her popularity will be maintained and her record-breaking abilities will persist.
